'Boomtown' Star Back in NBC Fold Neal McDonough, who played hard-living District Attorney David McNorris on "Boomtown," is trading the law for a different on-screen profession in an NBC pilot.In other pilot news, CBS and The WB have each added one more show to their lists of projects for next season, while on the casting front, Sarah Wynter ("24") will join "The Dead Zone" for several episodes.McDonough is in negotiations to play the lead in an untitled medical mystery, according to The Hollywood Reporter. NBC ordered the pilot from NBC Studios, Paramount TV and Landscape Entertainment contingent on its cast; signing McDonough will likely remove that hurdle.In addition to "Boomtown," McDonough's credits include "Minority Report" and "Band of Brothers." He'll next be seen in a remake of "Walking Tall" opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.Wynter will appear in six episodes of "The Dead Zone" when it returns to USA later this year. She'll play a therapist who meets the clairvoyant Johnny Smith (Anthony Michael Hall) when her sister disappears and Johnny becomes a suspect.The two pilots that received green lights were "Cooking Lessons," a drama at CBS, and "Marriage 101," a comedy for The WB."Cooking Lessons" is based on a book by New York Times food writer Amanda Hesser, who's serving as a consulting producer, about her relationship with The New Yorker's Tad Friend and the role dining played in it. Emily Fox wrote the script and will executive produce with Kim and Eric Tannenbaum.The WB's comedy is about a married couple forced to move in with friends of the husband. Writers Boyce Bugliari and Jamie McLaughlin will also serve as executive producers along with Brad Grey ("The Sopranos," "Cracking Up").
